Dataset coverage

Data quality

How well a dataset represents the tasks, conditions and variations relevant to its intended use.

Coverage is different from review coverage, which describes what was checked. Define the dimensions that matter, such as objects, viewpoints, lighting, hardware and failure modes. A large dataset can contain many repetitions while still missing important conditions.

In practice

A million routine placements may provide little evidence about reflective objects, occluded releases or recovery after a slip.
