Image annotation

Labels that describe an image or elements within it, such as objects, regions and landmarks.

Common forms include image labels, bounding boxes, segmentation masks and keypoints. The annotation format determines only part of the quality check. Review also needs rules for ambiguous objects, occlusion, boundaries and labels that require context unavailable in the image.

In practice

A partly hidden tool can be labeled as occluded rather than assigned an invented visible boundary.
